Kutztown Rotary meeting last week,
Wednesday October 1
Student of the Month, District Governor Visit
And More!

Last Wednesday, October 1, members of the Kutztown Rotary Club celebrated the Student of the Month ceremony. One student from each of Kutztown Area High School and Brandywine Heights Area High School is selected by school administrators each month throughout the school year for this award based collectively on academic achievement, school participation, and community contributions. Pictures above show Kamryn from Brandywine and Joslyn from Kutztown who were celebrated for October.

Both Kamryn and Joslyn addressed the club members at the Ceremony where they demonstrated qualities of exemplary students. They entertained questions from the club members showed off their talents. The ceremony normally occurs during the Kutztown Rotary meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at the Kutztown Tavern, where the weekly meetings for the club generally take place.

In addition to student of the month, we traded flags with our exchange student, Luna, as well as Craig Bower of the Cross Timbers Rotary Club in Dallas - Fort Worth.
We also welcomed District Governor Mary Cook who spoke to us about the Rotary Action Plan and presented a $7,000 check to Brandywine Heights for pickleball courts at the high school as a legacy gift for our upcoming Centennial celebration year starting in January 2026. Come visit us at a meeting to learn more about all the great things we do and all we have planned for the community during our centennial year of celebration!

Kutztown Rotary Club will celebrate a 100-year anniversary in
April of 2026 and we are celebrating the whole year of 2026!
Our tentative timeline is shown here:

NexTrex recycling program - Keep up the great work!
We are almost there!
Just 16 pounds to reach the goal!
But keep on collecting - we are doing a second bench as well. Just continue to send pictures of your drop off and let us know the weight.

Please email or text your picture and the weight to Melissa Kirk or Laura McBride to get it recorded at NexTrex to count towards our 1000 lbs for the bench. If you are unable to drop off the plastic yourself, please bring it to a meeting.
