Last Week for the Kutztown Rotary Club

Last Wednesday, October 14th, was the October club assembly. Along with normal club business of budgets and expense approvals, the following items were discussed/presented:

Old business:
  • Sometime in the near future we will be switching from clubrunner to the new platform called de nova
  • Tom and Melissa agreed to be signers for the forms to establish a payment system on clubrunner for dues and other club payments (eg, holiday parties, etc)
  • Kurt agreed to take over as membership chair - rest of the committee is Jim, Melissa, Chris, and Bob
  • We will be establishing a rotary email address to use for rotary business, including the zoom account
New business:
  • We will be establishing club leadership role definitions - all officers and committee chairs are asked to provide a bulleted list describing their role and responsibilities; the lists will be available on clubrunner for all member access
  • An email will go out shortly for officer/board director nominations for the club and foundation boards - members were reminded that any member can nominate themselves for any position - club voting will take place at the club holiday party on December 16
  • The board voted to nominate Mana Kieke as president elect and an email vote is currently taking place - please remember to respond to the email if you have not already

CENTENNIAL SERVICE PROJECTS FOR THE
ROTARY SEVEN AREAS OF FOCUS!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
February is Peacebuilding & Conflict Prevention
A Rotary Peace Pole has been placed in our community!
Please visit our Centennial website page here to read the story!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

We partnered with Help a Girl Out USA in a collection drive throughout February which was sorted and donated in March.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
April is Environmental
We have been collecting plastic since last summer and have so far gotten one bench which was placed at the Boyer Park along with our Peace Pole on September 2.
Please email or text your picture and the weight to Melissa Kirk or Laura McBride to get it recorded at NexTrex.
Although we had 4 entries in the Q2 drawing we did not win a prize in the drawing. But we did recycle a lot of plastic and did a bit of good for the environment!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July is Maternal and Child Health
To celebrate this area of focus, the Kutztown Rotary Club held a baby bundles drive in the months of July and August and, along with the Strand Theater, sponsored a double feature movie for the community to view a movie in exchange for a baby item donation.

Members delivered the Baby Bundles donation items to Friend, Inc and got a tour of the fabulous new facility. We enjoyed a pizza dinner from Tommy Boys and got to hear all about the renovations (current and future) and the amazing big plans Friend has to help the community.
