Last Week for the Kutztown Rotary Club

Last Wednesday, October 7th, members of the Kutztown Rotary Club celebrated the Student of the Month ceremony. One student from each of Kutztown Area High School and Brandywine Heights Area High School is selected by school administrators each month throughout the school year for this award based collectively on academic achievement, school participation, and community contributions.

Shown here are Emily Klopp from Brandywine Heights School District and Taylor Haring from Kutztown Area school district. Both ladies addressed the club members at the Ceremony where they demonstrated qualities of exemplary students. They also entertained questions from the club members and showed off their talents and abilities.

The ceremony normally occurs during the Kutztown Rotary meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at the Kutztown Tavern, where the weekly meetings for the club generally take place. We wish Olivia, Madison, and Lauren the best of luck in their future endeavors

CENTENNIAL SERVICE PROJECTS FOR THE
ROTARY SEVEN AREAS OF FOCUS!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
February is Peacebuilding & Conflict Prevention
A Rotary Peace Pole has been placed in our community!
Please visit our Centennial website page here to read the story!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

We partnered with Help a Girl Out USA in a collection drive throughout February which was sorted and donated in March.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
April is Environmental
We have been collecting plastic since last summer and have so far gotten one bench which was placed at the Boyer Park along with our Peace Pole on September 2.
Please email or text your picture and the weight to Melissa Kirk or Laura McBride to get it recorded at NexTrex.
Although we had 4 entries in the Q2 drawing we did not win a prize in the drawing. But we did recycle a lot of plastic and did a bit of good for the environment!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July is Maternal and Child Health
To celebrate this area of focus, the Kutztown Rotary Club held a baby bundles drive in the months of July and August and, along with the Strand Theater, sponsored a double feature movie for the community to view a movie in exchange for a baby item donation.

Members delivered the Baby Bundles donation items to Friend, Inc and got a tour of the fabulous new facility. We enjoyed a pizza dinner from Tommy Boys and got to hear all about the renovations (current and future) and the amazing big plans Friend has to help the community.
