This past week for Kutztown Rotary
December Club Assembly
Our meeting last week was the December Club Assembly where we presented the current nominees for the club and foundation boards. In addition, we discussed some updates to the club bylaws. These updates were emailed to all members on Thursday, December 4th and will be voted on at the club meeting on Wednesday December 17th, as long as we have a club quorum. The updates are also summarized below and available at the link below. We will provide a zoom option for this portion of the meeting. If you have any questions, you can email our president, Rose.

Summary of bylaws changes:
  • Removal of attendance requirement and leave of absence - The club no longer tracks attendance or has an attendance requirement
  • Removal of service membership -Since we no longer require/track attendance, it is no longer relevant
  • Clarify Seargent of Arms to be an elected position instead of a board appointed position
  • Removal of a portion of dues being automatically donated to RI foundation - This is no longer allowed by Rotary International so members will need to do this donation on their own
  • Change date of dues to June (half can be paid in June and half in December or a full year in June) - The reason for this change is that the district and international dues are set in June. Members will receive bills due June 20 and December 20 - the bills must be paid (or discussed) by the end of June and the end of December for the member to continue on the roster
  • We will also vote on the dues amount for 2026-2027

Kutztown Rotary Club will celebrate a 100-year anniversary in
April of 2026 and we are celebrating the whole year of 2026!
Our tentative timeline is shown here:

NexTrex!
Keep up the great work!
We have reached our first goal and our bench order has been placed!

But keep on collecting - we are doing a second bench and are already at 667.7 pounds!
Just continue to send pictures of your drop off and let us know the weight.

Please email or text your picture and the weight to Melissa Kirk or Laura McBride to get it recorded at NexTrex to count towards our 1000 lbs for the bench. If you are unable to drop off the plastic yourself, please bring it to a meeting.
