Meeting on Wednesday July 15 will be a social night at Sleepy Cat Urban Winery
We are heading out to Sleepy Cat Urban Winery to join the monthly silent book club (with social time before and after). They also have a bar for people who want to attend the Rotary social event, but not the silent reading portion. July's theme is Historical Fiction! This month they are also doing a pot luck! Bring a Red, White & Blue themed food if you'd like to participate.
We man the collection buckets during the concerts at the band shell (12:00-2:00 and 5:00 to 8:15) and we will have a tent set up the whole day to sell Dinner for 2 anywhere in the world ticket the whole day next to the band shell. In addition, we will be sponsoring a pickleball clinic at the bottom of the park and will have some younger volunteers providing an activity for kids there as well.
Please consider coming out and helping out at some point during the day. We need a lot of volunteers to make the day a success. Pleasefollow this linkto sign up.
Last Wednesday, July 8, we had our first club assembly under Co-Presidents Laura and Rose.
Rose ran through the 2025-2026 wrap up, including a summary for TOK and Laura ran through club business. Along with normal club business of budgets and expense approvals, the following items were discussed/presented:
New business
We are in need of a chair for the membership committee - Jim has agreed to stay on in the interim
We discussed the possibility of using clubrunner for collection of dues and other payments from members - stay tuned for more information
We will have a table at Fiddle Fest on September 20 to sell Dinner for 2 tickets
Members agreed to invest in some signage that can be used for booth events
We are seeking volunteers to help out with clean-up for the PAWS Learning Camp project (see details above)
Old business
We are still taking time to allow club members to explore accountant options (questions to ask: do they have experience working with non-profits, which services do they provide for non-profits, what is their general cost)
Kutztown Day is August 2nd - we need quite a few volunteers so please sign up
Fall Fest - please put the date of September 19th on your calendar to help volunteer at Kutztown Fall Fest on Main
Baby bundles drive - we don't have a date yet for the movie for the collection, but please spread the word so we can start collecting items for the drive
We have been collecting plastic since last summer and will be placing benches in both the Kutztown and Topton locations this coming year.
Please email or text your picture and the weight toMelissa Kirk or Laura McBrideto get it recorded at NexTrex.
Although we had 4 entries in the Q2 drawing we did not win a prize in the drawing. But we did recycle a lot of plastic and did a bit of good for the environment!
