Meeting this week
Wednesday, July 24 - Social night!
 
Please join us for the social event planned for Wednesday July 24. We will meet at Gassers for mini golf at 5:30 (cost for golf is $7.00) and plan to be at Liberty at Dryville in the back room around 7:00 (or a little later) for food and drink off the menu on our own. Please Click on the link below to sign up for one or both events (please remember to complete both columns). We need a headcount no later than mid-day July 23rd.

Important Announcements or News

Club announcement: The club board endorsed the 100th Anniversary committee's proposal for a legacy gift for Kutztown to be 2 pickleball courts in the Kutztown Community Park. The building of these courts is to start immediately. If you have not already done so, please consider signing up for one of the subcommittees here to help organize the 100-year celebration activities. Subcommittees are asked to meet in August and give reports at or prior to the next main committee meeting planned for September 24.

Please note that there will be a zoom Foundation Board meeting next week on Tuesday, July 30. The zoom link will be provided in the email invite and in the weekly bulletin next week.

The club will be volunteering for the Dinner on Main event which will occur on August 2 from 6:00 to 10:00. We need 20-25 volunteers to help set up/break down tables and chairs (set-up 3:30-5:00 and breakdown 9:00-10:00). Look for link to sign up soon or send an email to Jim Springer.

Besides dinner on main, the next volunteer activities are:
  • Das Auch Fest on August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th - contact Bob Hobaugh to volunteer - parking, breakfast, and lunch provided to volunteers
  • Kutztown Day on August 4th - there are 2 shifts and we need approximately 5 people for each - sign up here

Last week's meeting
Wednesday, July 17, 2024, we listened to Tom Kulp speak to us on the role of Kutztown in the Battle of Gettysburg, as a commemoration of the battle that took place over July 1- July 3, 1863. Berks county made up a good portion of the 151st Regiment and so we learned some interesting facts on some local connections to the battle. Thank you, Tom!
