Meeting this week
Meeting this Wednesday, December 18, will be our holiday party and annual vote.
On December 18, 2024, we will have our club holiday party and annual vote at the Tavern, starting at 6:00. Please join in on the ugly holiday sweater contest and Yankee gift exchange. The exchange is a lot of fun and the rules are simple:
Each person brings a wrapped gift worth $13.91 or less
Gifts should be wrapped but otherwise no names, markings, etc
Following the rules that will be explained, participants will have the option of “taking” someone else’s already opened gift or choosing an unopened gift
To add a little more cheer, before the meeting starts, we will be writing out some Christmas cards to residents in the senior living facilities in Kutztown and Topton. Also, after dinner, we will be treated to the famous Kutztown Tavern custard pies.
In addition, (and very importantly) we will be electing members of the club and foundation boards for the

It is that time again to think about the new membership year. Bills for 2025 dues will be going out later this month and will need to be paid by the end of January. It is very important that we find out before the end of the year who is renewing their membership for the next year.
IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY, PLEASE RESPOND TO THE EMAIL YOU RECEIVED ABOUT MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL AND LET US KNOW IF YOU INTEND TO CONTINUE IN ROTARY IN 2025 AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PAY YOUR DUES IN FULL IN JANUARY OR HALF IN JANUARY AND HALF IN JULY.
If we do not hear from you by December 20, 2024, you will be removed from the Kutztown Rotary Club roster.
It is grant application time through March 30, 2025 for both District Grants and Global Grants. In order to participate in grants, more than 1 person in each club needs to complete the grant training, which is then good for 3 years. Training expired this year for all but one member in the Kutztown club, so we need members to get the training. Members who are grant trained are responsible for writing and coordinating grants.
Grant Training will be held by ZOOM on January 13, 2025, at 6:00 pm
Kutztown Kitchen at Trinity Lutheran Church on January 26 (2:30 for set-up). The sign-up sheet accounts for approximately 75 dinners, which we will be serving in person, and will be available soon. Please save your receipts as we will be reimbursing members for food purchases.
Club members are responsible for meetings throughout the year. Some meetings each month are assigned to a club member and that member is responsible for providing the program for that night (and the invocation). Please tell the club secretary (Melissa Kirk) who/what your programming will be as early as you can, but no later than 6 weeks before your date. If you cannot provide a program for your assigned date, please switch with someone and let Melissa know as soon as possible. The current meeting list will be updated regularly and can be found at this link.
On deck for January and February are: Chris Volk (Feb 12) and Bob Hobaugh (Feb 26).
Meeting on Wednesday, December 11, was the Area 3/4 Holiday Party at Moselem Springs Golf Club.
Rotarians from the clubs of Birdsboro, Conrad Weiser, Fleetwood, Hamburg, Kutztown, Muhlenberg, Reading, Spring Township, Centennial, and West Reading/Wyomissing joined together to mingle, eat a great dinner, and spread some holiday cheer.
Each club provided $100 raffle baskets to benefit Helping Hands Food Bank. We raised well over $600 and 3 Kutztown Rotarians were lucky winners for some lovely baskets full of goodies! After dinner we had a lively Berks trivia game in which the winning table won some local treats.
