Meeting this week, Wednesday April 8,
will be student of the month
at the Kutztown Tavern
Each month the Kutztown Rotary Club recognizes one outstanding student each from Kutztown Area High School and Brandywine Heights Area High School. These students are selected by their school administrators and are often picked for significant improvement or overcoming challenges, accomplishments in academics, school participation, and community contributions. These students never fail to impress Rotarians with their positive impact on our community. Dinner for the student, two parents, and one school administrator will be paid for by the club - additional family and representatives from the school are always welcome.
In addition, a Rotary speaker will be giving a short presentation on a Rotary topic.
Meet at 6:00 to get a drink and socialize. We order dinner at 6:20, followed by invocation and club news.
Meeting will be hybrid - please contact Melissa or Rose if you plan to join by zoom so that we can let you into the meeting. For added security, there will be a waiting room for this meeting.

Kutztown Rotary Club turned 100 years old on April 1, 2026. We are celebrating throughout the year, but we had a special anniversary dinner last Wednesday at the Astor event Center.
Everyone had a wonderful time with the party theme of Roaring 20's and a scrumptious dinner at a very lovely venue.
District Governor Mary Cook gave an interesting speech that shed some light on why so many clubs in our district are turning 100 years around this time. Marty Helman, a Rotary Foundation Board Trustee, gave a moving speech on why she became a Rotarian and what it means to be able to help people world-wide through Rotary. Marty has served Rotary as chair of the Peace Major Gifts Initiative and as a member of the working group that selected the site for the Rotary Peace Center at Bahçeşehir University. She is also director-elect for zones 28 and 32.
The evening was emcee'd by current Kutztown Rotary President, Rose Galeano-Phillips. During the program, the Club received a special citation from the Kutztown Mayor, Jim Schlegel and Bob Hobaugh and Erin Bailey presented an interesting rendition of the Kutztown Rotary Club history. A special thank you was issued to Florita Hobaugh and the centennial dinner committee for a successful event. After the program, the evening dancing opened up with a costume contest and a Charleston dance lesson.
Please follow the link below for lots of fun pictures from the evening.
A Rotary Peace Pole will be coming to our community as well as a peace poster contest for students in the Kutztown and Brandywine school districts! Look for an unveiling ceremony coming soon!
We have been collecting plastic since last summer and will be placing benches in both the Kutztown and Topton locations this coming year.
Although the NexTrex recycling program has changed, we are going to continue to collect. Please email or text your picture and the weight to Melissa Kirk or Laura McBride to get it recorded at NexTrex.
