Kutztown Rotary Club Celebrates Another Successful Ghost Tour!

The Kutztown Rotary Club held the second annual Kutztown Ghost Tour on October 21st and 22nd with proceeds benefitting the Kutztown Historical Society. This year, the tour added mini stops between the 4 main stops of the Kutztown Historical Society, Old Main, Hope Cemetery, and the FOE. Guests were entertained with ghost stories and Kutztown history told by local historians, Rotary members, and Kutztown resident volunteers. In addition, participants could stop by a booth set up by paranormal group K.A.S.P.E.R. to learn about real-life ghost hunting or have a tarot card reading by volunteers Bonnie DeLong and Cecilia Taylor.

We would especially like to acknowledge all the hard work put in by the committee members and local volunteers and would also like to thank the community for making this event so successful. Please mark your calendars for next years’ event on October 20 and 21, 2023. If you are interested in learning more about the Kutztown Rotary Club events or in becoming a volunteer or member, please visit our website at www.KutztownRotary.com or facebook page @KutztownRotary.
We hope you enjoy the picture collages below of guests, Rotary members, and volunteers. We again want to thank the collaborators, including the KU Paranormal Society and the Kutztown Historical Society, and all of the volunteers that donated time for this event. We also would like to give a special shout out to the Kutztown Tavern for letting us use the Club Room as a home base for the Ghost Tour.

Stories
On the Trail to End Polio
Kutztown Rotary Club members joined other District 7430 Rotarians on October 15 to support Rotary's efforts to end polio. Multiple activities for the event held at the Berks Nature Center included active choices to walk, bike, and run; hands-on service projects in the Nature center; and a dog parade with fun category prizes. The morning wrapped up with a social lunch for all participants. It was a great group event for a great cause. Learn more about Rotary's campaign to end polio here.

Students of the Month for Oct 2022
Each month the Kutztown Rotary Club recognizes one outstanding student each from Kutztown Area High School and Brandywine Heights High School. These students are selected by their school administrators and are often picked for significant improvement or overcoming challenges, accomplishments in academics, school participation, and community contributions. These students never fail to impress Rotarians with their positive impact on our community.

Pictured with Kutztown Club President-elect Ellen Overcast, are the student of the month from Kutztown Area High School, Julia Perella and from Brandywine Heights High School Jade Hartline. Congratulations to both of you! Please look for an upcoming article in the BerksMont News.

When Not at Work - Members at Play
Along with serving the community, members of the Kutztown Rotary Club like to be social. We do a social hour meeting every third Wednesday of the month, we have movie club meetings at area venues, and enjoy many other social activities.

Pictured here for the month of October are the Ghost Tour Volunteer celebration at Setter Ridge and Kurt Rohrbach's 65th Birthday Party. Not pictured, but also this month, we attended a Social Hour at the Barn at Walnut Grove with the Fleetwood Rotary Club.

Come join our meetings to find out how we do good and have fun.

Member spotlight - Amy Sheller
Member spotlight this month is Amy Sheller Below is a short bio submitted by Amy.
Hi! I’m Amy Sheller & I’ve been a Kutztown Rotary member for about 8 years. I joined Rotary because I was impressed with the international reach that Rotary had & I wanted to connect with the community since moving my business to Kutztown. I co-own a video production company with my partner Jim Herman called Abominable Productions. We specialize in cinematic visual storytelling. Our work has been featured on several national blogs & regional magazines. Our authentic story driven films have won us several International film competition awards. Since joining Rotary I have gained a greater connection with our community. I also had the opportunity to join an International Rotary service trip to India where we built a rain catchment system & participated in their National Immunization Day by giving Polio drops to children in a local village. Through Rotary I have served as our club’s program coordinator, club president for 2 years and 3 years as Area 3 Assistant Governor. I’m currently serving as our District 7430 Public Image Chairperson, Taste of Kutztown Digital & Social media manager & Club Public Image Chairperson. In my free time I enjoy hiking, yoga, and traveling & exploring new places. I'm always up for an adventure! Some fun facts about me: in my first career I was a dancer & dance teacher and once took a dance class with Liza Minelli, I’ve been a vegetarian for over 25 years, and I manage over 20 social media accounts! Favorite cocktail is a gimlet & my favorite travel memory is the first time seeing the Himalayas in Darjeeling & celebrating Holi in Nepal. I currently reside in Kutztown with my spouse Jim & our 2 cats, Pickles & B-Roll.
