The Kutztown Rotary Club was an Earth Level Sponsor for the event, as well a Founders Club.
Kutztown Rotary members Bob Hobaugh, Kurt Rohrbach and Amy Sheller attended the Celebration event on Monday July 11, which included a parents and guests review of the student projects. See picture below for a small sample.
Farmers' Night is around the corner
The Kutztown Rotary Club is proud to present Farmers' Night, a unique and old Club tradition dating back to 1938. This event is a time where we show our appreciation for the farming community and celebrate its importance in our economy. It is a fun night of food and celebration meant to honor the many different forms of farming in our community.
Although we were hoping to return to our tradition of holding the event in February at the Kutztown Grange, due to the continued threat of COVID we were again forced to hold the event in an outdoor picnic setting. The event will be held on Saturday, July 30th at the Kutztown Rod and Gun Club Pavilion.
Do you like getting out into the community and volunteering? Members of the Kutztown Rotary club recently volunteered at the Kutztown Folk Festival, one of the many volunteer service projects they do. A few other volunteer projects include preparing and serving meals for Kutztown Kitchen and Opportunity House, community clean up and environmental projects like helping to install the fence at the pollinator garden by 4 Monkeys Coffee House, and volunteering for community events like the two closest events coming up, Kutztown Day at the Community Park on August 7th and Brake the Cycle of Poverty Bike Race put on by Friend Inc, on August 13. Please consider joining us to contribute to the great communities of Kutztown and Topton.
This week's member spotlight is Kellie Collins. Below is a bio provided by Kellie:
Kellie became a member of Kutztown Rotary July 30, 2021, along with her husband, Mike, with whom she has two sons, Justin and Aaron, and with whom she recently celebrated a 26th wedding anniversary. Kellie works as a Sr. Operator for Alcon, a manufacturing company that makes surgical devices for the eye health industry.
Kellie grew up in Merrillville, Indiana until the age of 17. Before settling in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, she had moved around numerous times as Mike also had done the same while growing up. Together they did not want that for their sons and wanted to raise them in one town, one school district. They kept that promise. Both boys grew up in Kutztown and graduated from Kutztown High School. Their oldest went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University. The younger son, Aaron works full-time for a local company as a logistic specialist.
Kellie first heard about Rotary Club from their friend, Tom Kulp. When she heard about all the great stuff the club does for the community, she wanted to join. Kellie enjoys living in Kutztown and feels the town has always been good to her and her family. She joined the Rotary Club of Kutztown because she and Mike wanted to find ways to help their community. Kellie also enjoys meeting new people. One of her favorite Rotary events is Movie Night. She always looks forward to not only seeing a good movie but spending time with Rotarians who have become her close friends 😊
